GLASGOW, Ky. – Tuesday, Span Tech, LLC announced plans for the expansion of their local conveyor system manufacturing operation in Glasgow.

This project will bring $13,200,000 in capital investment and create 40 new jobs.

The expansion will include the relocation of their current operations on Cleveland Avenue to Hilltopper Way. The project incorporates the renovation of a 42,000-sf building, formerly Sitel, and the construction of a new 100,000 sf facility which will increase the manufacturing, warehouse and assembly areas to meet growing customer demand.

“Span Tech has been a great employer and strong corporate citizen for the past four decades and we are grateful for their decision to expand here,” said Maureen Carpenter, Executive Director for the Barren County Economic Authority. “These 40 new jobs will provide a significant boost to our local economy.”

Span Tech, LLC opened for business in 1981 as a supplier of durably designed plastic chain conveyors and industry-leading innovation in material handling. Since founded, their goal has been to “build the very best conveyor systems we are capable of.”

Today, the results of that goal shows. Renowned for durably-designed plastic chain conveyors and industry-leading innovation in material handling, Span Tech is recognized as a global leader in developing unique, customizable technical solutions for processing applications in core industries that include: food production, beverage production, manufacturing, packaging, distribution, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and e-commerce. Their employment level has grown from 11 to nearly 95 associates.

“We could not be more excited to expand our business and create new jobs in this area. This expansion plan will increase our efficiency, improve our ability to deliver quality products, and increase our capacity to serve new customers. Our Span Tech team has been blessed with the opportunity over the years to be able to provide support to many charitable organizations in our community. This expansion will allow us to continue to impact others. We are very appreciative of the state and local support we have received toward our growth,” said Tiffany Somerville, COO of Span Tech. “We look forward to our future here in Kentucky” she added.

As Span Tech has evolved, so have their projects. Driven by customers’ needs, they regularly engineer new solutions through a healthy investment in research and development. Due to their innovative approach to solving problems, Span Tech thrives on making products to improve their client’s business. Unlike others, they are the only company in the plastic chain conveyor industry which manufactures many of their components, thus controlling the quality of the complete product offering.

“We could not be more excited for Span Tech, LLC. The leadership of this business has been a tremendous partner for our community and particularly with our school system,” stated Barren County Judge Executive Michael Hale. “this expansion shows their continued support and faith in Barren County and we wish all the best in this endeavor and our full support.”

“This is an exciting new opportunity for Span Tech,” shared Glasgow Mayor Harold Armstrong. “They have had nearly 40 years of success in Glasgow, and we are pleased to see the company shows no signs of slowing down, we thank them for their commitment to our community.”

Renovations, construction and equipment installation will begin immediately, and Span Tech will be looking for new employees to join their team upon completion of the construction.
